Global Executive Protection Group

Let GEPG have the opportunity to provide you with your Executive Protection – Bodyguard Services requirements.

Executive Protection – (EP); also known as close protection, refers to security and risk mitigation measures taken to ensure the safety of VIPs or other individuals who may be exposed to elevated personal risk because of their employment, high-profile status, net worth, affiliations, or geographical location.

Executive Protection Specialists are considered the highest standard in personal security. Agents assigned to this unit utilize proven methods in accordance with U.S. Secret Service principles and best practices.

AEP Agents are highly trained to be effective but also invisible, ensuring that we don’t interfere with your life and work.

All our Executive Protection Specialists are either current or former law enforcement officers recruited from the ranks of local, state, and federal agencies, prior military background and or have more than five years of armed security/supervisory experience with extensive EP Training and experience.

WHAT ARE THE ATTRIBUTES OF GEPG EXECUTIVE PROTECTION AGENTS:

GEPG Executive Protection professional are intelligent, discreet, decisive, ethical, and serious. They are able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of integrity, focus, and situational awareness, at all times.

GEPG Executive Protection Agents are highly autonomous and always carry themselves with a level of professionalism. This type of focus and dedication allows them to do their job to the best of their ability and to the highest possible standard.

WHAT DOES AN EXECUTIVE PROTECTION AGENT DO:

An Executive Protection Agent—sometimes called an Executive Protection Specialist—is responsible for the planning and execution of keeping their client safe and out of harm’s way. They are responsible for the overall security and protection of their client and often their families, and perform ongoing threat assessment, risk assessment, and vulnerability assessments.

The planning stage (or advance) of any Executive Protection program involves mapping out routes, understanding parking, entrances, and exits, and having a backup plan should any issues arise. Additionally, the role of an Agent can translate into a variety of responsibilities including driving and concierge services, event facilitation, liaising with hotels, airports, venues, and venue staff, and safeguarding highly sensitive and confidential security information. Agents, dependent upon circumstances, will be deployed singularly or as part of a larger team. The ability to work with a team and integrate quickly and seamlessly with other teams is an essential skill.

Executive Protection Agents are often required to travel domestically and internationally as part of their job, so they will need to be able to work long hours, including evenings and weekends. Agents can work for an Executive Protection firm or work for several firms as contractors, dependent upon legislative and licensing requirements.

IS AN EXECUTIVE PROTECTION AGENT THE SAME AS BODYGUARD:

While there is some overlap in responsibilities, an Executive Protection Agent should not be mistaken for a bodyguard.

Both roles involve protecting a client and keeping them safe from physical threats like assault, stalking, theft, kidnapping, invasion of privacy, and even assassination; however, bodyguards are more focused on acting when a situation arises (reactive), whereas Executive Protection Agents focus on risk mitigation strategies to keep their client out of harm’s way to begin with (proactive).

Bodyguards are often used as a highly visible deterrent, rather than an integral part of the overall security and safety of the principle.

Executive Protection Officer or Close Protection Officer vs Bodyguard or Security Guard:

Although the roles share some responsibilities, an executive protection officer or close protection officer is distinct from the bodyguard or security guard role. The main difference is reactive versus proactive.

A close protection officer and bodyguard might both keep a client safe from physical threats such as assault, invasion of privacy, kidnapping, stalking, theft, and even assassination. However, bodyguards react to situations as they arise, whereas close protection officers proactively focus on risk mitigation to keep their principal out of harm’s way.

Bodyguards and security guards often serve as a highly visible deterrent, convincing potential attackers that there will be a significant resistance or cost to their attack. Close protection officers are typically a less visible but integral part of the larger safety strategy surrounding the principal. They are less likely to fit the movie stereotype of being the person in a black suit with an earpiece but are often much more effective at preventing adverse incidents.

We believe that there is a difference between a bouncer-like bodyguard and an Executive Protection Specialist. Each has their place in the role of providing protection. However, a bouncer-like bodyguard could probably get you out of a present difficult situation, where an executive protection specialist would never allow you to get caught in that situation in the first place. Executive Protection Specialists are meticulous planners and their attention to detail and planning techniques are extraordinary. Their skills in identifying potentially risky situations and setting up contingency plans surpass that of your everyday bouncer-like bodyguard that have little or no training.

HIRING A GEPG EP AGENT:

Contracting EP for the principal usually includes the protectee’s private home, office, and travel. That is because a potential attacker is most likely going to look for alternative routes to ambush the client. Close family, friends, and entourage will be first on their radar

While these tools and techniques focus on a different level of analysis and exposure than most executive protection solutions and analysis, they are often part of a holistic executive protection strategy. Such solutions are frequently used when an executive has access to business-critical trade secrets, is engaged in sensitive negotiations, or if the executive has been previously targeted by malicious elements.

AEP EP agents are trained to conduct TSCM sweeps, these tools and procedures are part of our executive protection toolkit. Executive protection analysts and officers should assess the threat of technical surveillance to their protectee’s, especially in geographic areas where such problems are more common and engage with the appropriate professionals to deploy these tools, as needed.
